The moment we have been waiting for, Fernando Tatis Jr one of the best players on the Padres is back in the line up starting today after being on the injured list in June with a stress fracture.
Throughout his career, the star right fielder has played a significant role on the field making hard plays look easier than they seem along with entertaining fans hitting home runs left and right. Prior to being put on the injured list, Tatis Jr was the home run leader on the Padres with 14 home runs and ranked number 13 in Major League Baseball with a .821 on base plus slugging percentage (OPS).
According to San Diego Union Tribune sports writer Kevin Acee, ““It’s going to be a huge boost for us when he does come back,” said teammate Jake Cronenworth.”
Personally, I’m very proud of how well the Padres have played this season without Tatis Jr on the field and are currently tied with the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League wild card with a 78-61 record. For example, centerfielder Jackson Merrill is currently one of the most talked about players for the National League Rookie of the year award having an .892 OPS along with 12 home runs since Tatis Jr went on the IL.
With the addition of Tatis Jr, the Padres will be able to continue pushing for a spot in the wild card and potentially having a chance to make it to the World Series which will be exciting for fans to watch. For the rest of the season, I wish the Padres the best and can’t wait for our bright future ahead of us.
Sincerely,
