Unfortunately the San Diego padres are in a terrible slump due to the amount of pitchers on the IL list. Currently, there are 12 pitchers on the IL and the majority are starting pitchers. Starting with Dinelson Lamet who was placed on the IL with a forearm injury and will most likely come back to the Padres next week. Another starting Pitcher is Chris Paddack who was placed on the IL with an oblique strain and will be return the Padres hopefully soon. Then, starting pitcher Yu Darvish was placed on the IL with lower back tightness and will hopefully return the Padres next week. lastly Jake Arrieta was placed on the IL with an hamstring sprain and will miss at least one rotation. Due to the amount of injures, the Padres have had to rely on the bullpen to start their games which has put a lot of pressure on the pitching staff. Hopefully within the next week Chris, Yu, and Jake will come back from the IL so the Padres can win some games and stay in the wild card hunt.
