As of now, the MLB has not announced when baseball will resume playing because the Players Association and the owners have not come to agreement with players contracts to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Throughout the past few weeks, the MLBPA and the MLB have met to discuss possible options to sign the CBA but they are both unwilling to compromise to make a deal. According to USA Today “players walked away with the owners’ modest revisions to previous proposals”. Since the MLBPA and MLB have not signed the CBA, baseball fans are concerned about regular season starting on time and the risk of spring training being canceled. According to CNBC “If you get to not playing games, you may have more fan erosion because people have long memories, and they have other things they can do with the disposable income.” Baseball is Americas favorite sport so the faster we could get the MLBPA and the MLB to agree on players contracts and sign the CBA, fans will be relieved that they can enjoy watching games together. Personally, I hope the MLBPA and MLB come to an agreement soon to sign the CBA so that baseball season doesn’t get delayed. My dad and I Love going to Spring Training to watch the Padres in Peoria, Arizona, and would hate for it to be canceled. Opening Day is also my favorite day of the year so I would be devastated if it was postponed.
