As the regular season comes to a close, teams are heating up while they prepare to compete against each other for a chance to play in the postseason, and put on a show for the fans to enjoy watching. This season has been special since teams that haven’t made the playoffs in forever finally have the opportunity to display what they have been preparing for with their talented players.
Throughout the National League, teams are getting ready to put on a fight to see who will be the best team in the NL. Currently, the Los Angelas Dodgers have the best record in baseball with 103 wins leading the National League West. In the National League east, the New York Mets are in the lead with 97 wins but the Atlanta Braves are only a game and a half behind them trying to claim the title of being the best team in their division. On Tuesday, the Saint Luis Cardinals clinched a spot in the playoffs and are leading the Central division with 90 wins. The San Diego Padres and the Philadelphia Phillies are both in the Wild Card, trying their absolute best to secure a spot in the playoffs. Within the past week, the Padres have been doing a phenomenal job playing their best that i’ve seen in a long time, and have won seven of their last ten games including two games in Colorado, which has been challenging for them all season.
Around the American League, the pressure is on as teams prepare to see who will be the best in the AL. Currently, the Houston Astros have the best record in the league with101 wins leading the western division. Throughout the east, the New York Yankees have had a remarkable season especially during their first half prior to the All Star Game and are leading the division with 94 wins. Arron Judge, who is an outfielder for the Yankees, holds the record for the most home runs this season with 61 homers which is incredible and only a handful of players have ever done that. Congratulations to Judge on that amazing accomplishment and wish you the best on the rest of your career. In the Central division, the Cleveland Guardians have clinched the playoffs for the first time since 2018 with 86 wins. As of right now, the Seattle Mariners, the Tampa Bay Rays, and the Toronto Blue Jays are in the wild card attempting to secure a spot in the playoffs.
Personally, I think the Padres have a really high chance of making the playoffs because they have had a remarkable season despite losing one of their best players Fernando Tatis Jr. I’m very impressed with how well the Padres have played throughout the season, and will definitely be a year to remember. Hopefully the Padres continue playing their hearts out in order to make it to the postseason.
