As of this morning, the Padres announced that Jake Cronenworth’s contract was extended for another seven year $80 million.

Cronenworth is not one of the bigger names on the team but has played a huge role in the Padres line up since he joined the team in 2020. Throughout his career, he has played in the MLB Allstar game twice while becoming a fan favorite by many Padres fans including my self.

On the field, Cronenworth does a phenomenal job making difficult plays look easy along with being one of the best hitters on the team. Last year, he had a 2.39 batting average and lead the Padres with a 7.22 on base percentage. Cronenworth also helped the Padres advance to the NLCS by hitting a base clearing double in the bottom of the seventh inning against the dodgers on October 15th.

Personally, Cronenworth is one of my favorite players on the team because of what he does on the field and off the field. He is one of the most genuine players on the team and can always count on him to take photos and sign balls before games. One of my favorite memories with him would be when he waved to me at spring training this year during batting practice. Best of luck Cronenworth with the rest of his career with the Padres and hope he continues to rake at the plate.
