Padres Season Update

Unfortunately, the San Diego Padres are having one of the most disappointing seasons leaving fans heartbroken and devastated.

To my followers, I’ve tried writing this update so many times but haven’t found the words to describe how difficult this season has been for me and I’m sure others would be able to relate as well. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even want to watch the games anymore because of how much pain they have put into my life.

You would think with the amount of talent the Padres have on the team they would be performing way better than they are right now but certainly that’s not the case. One of the reasons the Padres aren’t doing well is because they are not playing as a team and haven’t been enjoying themselves in the dugout as they did in the past. From a fan perspective, I miss seeing them dance in the dugout like nobody was watching them because baseball is supposed to be a fun sport to play and have a blast in the dugout with your teammates.

This might cause an argument but I love the Padres head coach Bob Melvin and think he is one of the best managers the Padres have had since Bruce Bochy who managed the team from 1995 to 2006. Although Melvin has made some questionable calls on the field, he sticks up for the players and knows baseball well enough to understand how to put a quality line up together. I also love the Padres General Manager Aj Preller because of his aggressive attitude to get high quality players that I would have never guessed would be apart of the team.

During the offseason, I’m hoping that Preller will help rebuild the team to bring energy back into the clubhouse and players that are eager to win because there is nothing I want more than going to the postseason. I will always love the Padres and have high hopes for what’s to come next season.

Sincerely,

Taylor Leonard author of Beyond the Bases.
